Spiritual Tour to Tamilnadu

Come and delve into Tamil Nadu’s magical creations of natural wonder and scenic brilliance intact with tales of the past in its many destinations. The south Indian states are one of the best places for relishing the history, however, apart from that, this 9N/10D spiritual temple tour package around Tamil Nadu will offer you an itinerary filled with shrines, beaches, architecture and gardens. The temple tour will start from Chennai where you can relax in the beach and visit attractions like St. George Fort, St Mary’s Church, Kapaleeswarar Temple and Sri Parthasarathy Temple. Later, drive down to the fishermen town, Mahabalipuram and check - out some age-old work of stone sculptures in attractions such as Shore Temple, Caves, Krishna Mandapam, Five Rathas and Arjuna's Penance. A stop at Pondicherry to sightsee places like Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple, the Sacre Coeur Church, the Raj Nivas and Sri Aurobindo Ashram is always pleasant. On the following days, you can visit the 300 m long ancient Kallanai dam in Tiruchchirappalli and temples like Ranganathaswamy, Rockfort and Jambukeshwara. The itinerary also includes an excursion tour to Thanjavur attractions like Sivagangai Garden, Sri Brihadeeswarar Temple, Mariamman Temple, Mariamman Temple and Schwartz Church. Also, a further down towards the south eastern tip, visit places like Ramanathaswamy Temple and Gandhamadana Parvatam in Rameshwaram and Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, Meenakshi Temple and Mariamman Teppakulam in Madurai. This tour package also includes a trip to Kanyakumari, here you can witness the beautiful sunset from sunset point overlooking Swami Vivekananda Memorial and also visit other sites like Gandhi Memorial and Kanyakumari Temple.

Itinerary


Day-1 | Arrive Chennai

You will be received by our representatives from the airport/railway station and transferred to the selected hotel in Chennai. On arrival, check-in and rest for a while and later go for sightseeing around places like Fort St. George,built during 1653, India’s oldest Anglican Church, St Mary’s Church; 8th century temples built by Pallavas, Kapaleeswarar Temple and Sri Parthasarathy Temple. Also, visit Marina Beach in the evening followed by an overnight stay in the hotel.

Day-2 | Chennai - Mahabalipuram

A new day begins packed with scrummy breakfast after which you head to Ooty Railway Station to relish the serene view through the joyous toy train ride from Ooty to Coonoor (Direct Payment Basis). As you reach Coonoor you can pave your way to sight the Lamb Rock, Dolphin's Nose and later on get back to Ooty and on the way visit Rose garden, Botanical garden & Ooty Lake. Overnight stay in Ooty.

Day-3 | Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry

On day 3, after breakfast, check-out and head to Pondicherry, enroute, you can visit a beautiful city of Tamil Nadu, Kanchipuram. After touring, continue to your destination and check-in at the selected hotel. Overnight stay.

Day-4 | Pondicherry

After breakfast, you can head out for a full day excursion in Pondicherry. (This place was earlier called as Puducherry located on the east Indian seaboard. Here you can witness French influence architecture with a few Gallic accents). During the tour you can sightsee attractions like Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple, the Sacre Coeur Church, the Raj Nivas and Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Return to the hotel in Pondicherry for an overnight stay.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram : Located on rue de la Marine, Sri Aurobindo Ashram is one of the famous ashrams set up in the year 1926 by a saint-yogi and a philosopher-poet Sri Aurobindo. Sri Aurobindo also taught Integral Yoga, it is a new and a modern way of mind developing, a synthesis of yoga and modern science. Also, another famous figure, a French painter, sculptor and a musician, Madame Mirra Richard Alfassa joined Sri Aurobindo later in continuing with the new era yoga. Even after the death of Sri Aurobindo, she continued the practice till her last breath. She died at the age of 93 in the year 1973.

The Pondicherry Museum : The museum is one of the best attractions in Pondi located in the Saint Louis street. It remains open between 10.00 to 05.00 pm all days except Mondays and national holidays. The Pondicherry Museum was the former residence of the French Administrator and it has a wide collection of impressive things from the Pallava and Chola dynasties like rare bronzes and stone sculptures. It also has objects found in an ancient port site Arikamedu 7km from the main city. Slos, you can find wide collections of Greek and Roman Jars, collection of temple lamps, 200 year old beads and precious stones and also some Chinese objects from the Tsung period.

Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus : Located on the South Boulevard, Subbayah Salai, Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an neo-gothic church endowed in white and brown. Built in the 1700’s by the French missionaries it is one of Pondicherry’s best Catholic Churches.

Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple : Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple is dedicated to Ganesha and it is more than 300 years old and it has a golden spire.

Day-5 | Pondicherry - Tiruchchirappalli

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and drive to Tiruchchirappalli, as you arrive, check-in at the hotel and rest. Later, head out for sightseeing attractions like the Grand Anicut/Kallanai Dam (it is a popular picnic spot and the only stone dam in the world, it is 300 m long ancient dam, a perfect place for family picnics). Ranganathaswamy Temple, Rockfort Temple, Jambukeshwara Temple are also a few must visits. Return back to hotel after the tour for an overnight stay.

Day-6 | Tiruchchirappalli - Thanjavur - Tiruchchirappalli

On day 6, you can go for an excursion tour in Thanjavur and catch a glimpse of the ancient structures built by Marathas, Nayaks and Cholas. They were also great philanthropist who supported the art and culture. Here, you can visit places like Sivagangai Garden, Sri Brihadeeswarar Temple, Mariamman Temple, Mariamman Temple and Schwartz Church. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day-7 | Tiruchchirappalli - Rameshwaram

Checkout form the hotel after early breakfast and drive to Rameswaram. You can check-in as you arrive and rest, later visit attractions like Ramanathaswamy Temple and Gandhamadana Parvatam. Overnight stay along with dinner will follow at the hotel in Rameshwaram.

Day-8 | Rameshwaram – Madurai

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and proceed to one of the oldest Indian cities, Madurai. (Madurai is an ancient city with many temples, it derived its name from the divine nectar dripped from Shiva’s matted locks). Once here you can visit sites like Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, Meenakshi Temple and Mariamman Teppakulam. Overnight stay at the hotel in Madurai.

Day-9 | Madurai – Kanyakumari

Checkout form Madurai and drive to Kanyakumari, located in the southernmost part of India (it is the meeting point of three oceans, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal). Here, you can visit Swami Vivekananda Memorial, Gandhi Memorial, Kanyakumari Temple and Sunset Point from where you get a riveting sight of the sunset. Overnight stay at the hotel will follow.

Day-10 | Kanyakumari - Trivandrum Departure

The last day of the tour will start with a breakfast, you can check-out later and will be escorted to Trivandrum airport/railway station for your onward journey.
